Frequently Asked Questions
Please have read of our FAQs before sending us a question. We think you’ll find an answer to most questions here on our website, and with so many of you running it’s super helpful for us if we don’t need to answer too many questions and can get on with putting on four great events!
If you do have a question that isn’t answered below, please email us at nwtrs.tas@outlook.com.
I’m a slow runner/walker, can I participate?
The events in this Series are designed to be inclusive, welcoming runners of all abilities. We have set generous cut-off times to accommodate participants who prefer to walk the entire course. If you’re interested, join us for a fun day out and give it a try.
What is the Run Nation Film Festival?
Run Nation Film Festival:

We will be hosting our very own screening on Saturday night in the Mount Gnomon Barn.

How old do I have to be to participate?
Intro Course (All events) – Anyone under 13 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire course.
Short Course (Races 1 & 2) – Min. 13 years old (at time of event)
Short Course (Race 3, Night Event) – Min. 16 years old (at time of event) | 13 years old if accompanied by an adult the entire way.
Long Course (All events) – Min. 16 years old (at time of event)
Can my dog run, too?
Apologies to all dog enthusiasts! Unfortunately, as many of our courses use trails and routes that are prohibited to dogs under government law, our furry friends can’t partake in the excitement this time.
Can I listen to music?
The simple answer is no. When there are many other runners around, you may discover that you don’t require music to stay motivated. Listening to music or podcasts could hinder your ability to hear instructions from marshals, as well as communications from other participants or the public, especially crucial on trails where taking a wrong turn can lead to getting lost quickly. While it’s common for people to disregard this advice in most running races, if you feel you can’t run without music, please use only one earphone and turn it off in busy or potentially confusing areas. Ideally, we ask that you refrain from using it altogether. We believe you can still have a great time without it!
Will I get a medal?
There are no finisher medals for individual races.
In 2025, we are introducing the TRIPLE CROWN FINISHERS MEDAL.
Participants who finish all 3 races will receive the Triple Crown Finishers Medal.
*Participants must finish all 3 races.
Additionally, the top 3 male and female runners from each race will be recognized and receive a medal.
For more information on medals and awards, click here.
Will I get a race bib?
Absolutely! We offer reusable bibs that are numbered for easy identification.
Bibs differ in colour depending on the event distance you are entered in.
Please wear your bib on the front of your shirt to help improve timing accuracy.
Kindly return the bib at the finish line so we can use these again at our next race.
Am I required to carry anything with me during the run?
We trust that you are all knowledgeable and sensible enough to prepare properly for these challenging adventures and race-day conditions, so we won’t be performing gear checks on race day. However, given the time of year, we kindly ask that you don’t arrive wearing only a singlet and racing spikes.
Ultimately, you are responsible for your own safety, so please consider the course and weather conditions, and prepare yourself accordingly by wearing appropriate footwear and clothing.
Please refer to the next question for more details.

Can I run using my friends race number/bib?
Definitely not.
Trails can pose risks, and unexpected situations can arise. It is crucial to have clear knowledge of each individual present in case of emergencies like getting lost, falling ill, sustaining injuries, or requiring evacuation from the trail.
Though it might appear harmless, participating in a race under someone else’s identity not only endangers your safety but also jeopardizes our permits and those of similar events.
Hence, individuals caught running under another person’s name may face a ban from future events, as well as the person they are impersonating.
Are there any race rules?
To ensure our events are enjoyable and fair for all participants, please adhere to the following guidelines:
– Avoid using headphones to stay alert to mountain bikers and other park users.
– Obey instructions given by event marshals.
– Adhere to Australian road rules, giving vehicles right of way on roads.
– Show courtesy to other park users, including hikers and bikers sharing the trails. – Respect the trails and its surroundings.
– Assist fellow runners or trail users in need, such as aiding with falls, exhaustion, hypothermia, or heat exhaustion.
– Cheating will not be tolerated.
– Event organizers reserve the right to modify the course, cancel or postpone events, and disqualify participants to ensure everyone’s safety.
– In case of rain, expect to get wet. Running in the rain can be refreshing and add to the excitement of trail running. However, adjustments to the route or event postponements may occur for safety reasons during inclement weather.
Is there any water available on course?
All of our events are considered self-sufficient, meaning that there is no on-course aid provided.
Water will be available at the start/finish line, but it will not be provided along the course during our events.
For both long and short course participants, it is recommended that you carry a minimum of 500 mL (short course) and 1L (long course) of water with you.
Your attention to this requirement is greatly appreciated.
What happens if it’s raining?
In short, you will end up getting wet. Have you ever gone for a run in the rain? It can be quite enjoyable and even enhance the dramatic feel of trail running.
Nonetheless, there might be times when an race cannot take place for safety reasons.
Our event and risk management team will keep a close eye on environmental events leading up to each race and also during the events themselves.
Bring a waterproof jacket and some dry clothes to change in to at the finish and enjoy being out in nature in all its glory.
What if extreme weather is predicted?
We closely monitor environmental conditions before and during our races, maintaining direct communication with authorities and landowners. Our proactive approach includes thorough planning and the implementation of contingency plans to ensure the event proceeds safely.
In the event of a cancellation, we will notify you via email (unless you’ve been registered by someone else or unsubscribed from our mailing list), update our social media platforms, and provide webpage updates.
Therefore, unless informed otherwise, please relax and attend the event as scheduled. We look forward to seeing you at the starting line. If rescheduling becomes necessary, we will make every effort to arrange a new date.
Where can I find the results?
The results will be available online shortly after the event. We strive to achieve this as soon as possible. Check the results page to view them.
Can I volunteer?
